Ahsan is the national business development leader with Burns & McDonnell, an engineering and construction firm specializing in design+build of clean energy and civic infrastructure.

Ahsan has 22 years of experience in engineering and project leadership roles with an electrical transformer manufacturer, utilities and consulting firms managing engineering and project teams to execute major infrastructure projects in power, pipelines, telecom and Hydrogen. Ahsan worked with AltaLink managing powerline projects in Alberta, with Enbridge leading development and execution of Canadian mainline expansion projects across Canada/US and then consulted with the AESO on a 500kV transmission line project before joining Burns & McDonnell in 2015.

Ahsan is an electrical professional engineer and currently serves on the Board of Examiners with Association of Professional Engineers of Alberta (APEGA) and as Vice Chair of Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC’s) Power Providers & Utilities Transit Decarbonization Committee and on two school boards in Calgary and Toronto. Previously, Ahsan served as IEEE’s Canada Chair for Industry and on boards at The Alex Community Health in Calgary and Industrial Power Consumers Association of Alberta (IPCAA).

Ahsan speaks frequently at national industry events, writes on industry topics and hosts a monthly live webinar series titled Canada Energy Transition attended by 200+ registrants from utilities, municipalities, OEMs and developers from across the country.
